Itinerary

We will pick you up from your hotel around 08:00-08:30. We will drive Hattusha approximately 3 hours. Before Hattusha, we will visit Yazilikaya where is an open air shrine. This place was a santuary for Hittites God and Goddess. Hittites were sacrificing some perriod of the year in this sanctuary. You can see depictions of Hittites God and Goddess on the walls.

Then, we will have lunch in Hattusha. After lunch, we will visit Hattusha. This is the capital of Hittite Empire which is first empire of Anatolia. We will see in Hattusha Great Temple, City Walls, Summer Palace, Lions Gate and King’s Gate and more. Our last stop will be Bogazköy Archeology Museum. This little museum does a good job of explaining Bogazköy history and significance. You can see different artifacts from Calcholitic period till now.

*** Alacahöyük which was occupied by different civilisations. But Alacahöyük flourished and increased the significance during Hittite Empire. Alacahöyük ancient settlement, we can date back Bronze Age. You can see in Alacahöyük Sphinx Gate with two eyeless sphinxes guarding the door. We will see Hittite Palace and Temple. Most of artifacts of Alacahöyük are on display in Anatolian Civilisations Museum in Ankara.
